SB1070 Supposedly Gutted While Politicians Play It Safe

During the protest at ICE headquarters in Phoenix, a white bus arrived with people who were detained for being in the country without proper documentation. Protestors rushed to the fence to yell and make noise for all the detainees to hear. Parts of SB1070 had been removed but ICE was still transporting prisoners.

Every police force has a distinctive way for how they handle demonstrations. Scottsdale Police Department also has theirs. When they detect activity developing, they send an officer to speak with the crowd to announce in a friendly manner that they expect everyone to follow the laws by not leaving the public sidewalk or obstructing the street. It is a bit uncanny how much this information officer resembles actor Steve Carell.

Tempe PD Harass Citizen Journalists (Video)

Sunday afternoon, a group of fifty local residents gathered near the corner of Ash and University in Tempe to plant a garden on a vacant commercial lot. Tempe Police Department showed up in force to prevent them from doing so and handcuffed and detained one man who walked to the top of a neighboring parking structure to take photos. The detainment was captured on video by local citizen journalist, Michelle Lewis, who was also harassed repeatedly on video by Tempe Police officers.

Arizona Rally Against the War on Women

Saturday afternoon, approximately five hundred people met outside the Arizona State Capitol in Phoenix for the UniteWomen.Org Rally Against the War on Women. The attendees were protesting a variety of recently proposed laws introduced by the Arizona Legislature relating to women's health. Videos were recorded by Michael Royer of Occupy Phoenix.

Nine Arrested During SB1070 March

Nine people were arrested in Phoenix, Arizona at the end of a march marking the two year anniversary of the signing of Arizona's infamous SB1070 law.
